Experience Matters



Philip Averett, President of EMS Management & Consultants is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and Consumer Economics. Prior to joining EMS Management & Consultants he served as an Operations Manager with Federal Express. Philip joined the company and became a co-owner in 1997; he oversaw all sales and marketing efforts, played a key role in growing the company’s client base, and also oversaw most HR and employee development initiatives. Philip became president of the company in 2007 and oversees all company operations. His reputation for providing excellent customer support for clients is still widely recognized.

Allan Logie, CFO/CIO graduated from Wake Forest University with an undergraduate degree in Business and received an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Management from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Most recently, Allan was Vice President /General Manager of Unifi, Inc’s Nonwoven Division. He also worked for United Airlines and Wachovia Bank. He currently serves in strategic planning, technical, financial, IT, and process improvement capacities. Allan joined the company and became a shareholder in 2003.

Kim Stanley, VP of Provider Business Services brings over 16 years of Medicare experience to EMSMC. She was employed with CIGNA Medicare, the NC Medicare Part B contractor, in the Public Relations Department. She served as the EMS liaison working in conjunction with the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) on various reimbursement committees to develop Ambulance Medicare policy, as well as a resource to the ambulance suppliers of NC and the NC Association of EMS Administrators. In her current position, she serves as an advocate for EMS providers through various state, regional, and national reimbursement committees and advisory groups.  Kim joined the company in 2003 and became a shareholder in 2007.

Sam Smith, COO, graduated from Davidson College with an undergraduate degree in Economics. He enjoyed nearly 20 years in the manufacturing industry including positions serving as the President of Yizheng Unifi Fiber Industries, Ltd. in Nanjing, China; and Vice President of North American Operations; Director of North American Sales & Service; Corporate Human Resources Director, and several other senior level roles for Unifi, Inc. Most recently, Sam has been president and owner of a home improvement company serving the major metropolitan areas of North Carolina. Since joining the company in January 2009 Sam has provided direction for the company’s operations including all aspects of claims management, customer service, human resources, and development.

Barry Britt, BS, EMT-P, Director of Business Development & Client Relations

Barry began working with EMS|MC in January of 2008. Prior to coming to EMS|MC, Barry worked for over 25 years in the EMS industry. Working as a paramedic in Guilford County, Barry later served as EMS Director in Moore County, EMS Director in Wake County and as an Associate Professor in the Emergency Medical Science program at Sandhills Community College. Barry holds an AAS in Emergency Medical Science and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration.

Barry oversees our Client Relations Department along with all sales and marketing opportunities in our existing regions and is focusing his efforts on researching new market opportunities that fit within our distinct growth strategies. As a dedicated professional, Barry is committed to providing strong customer support through his direct involvement with EMS agencies and organizations throughout our region.

Katie Manning, SPHR, Human Resources Manager graduated magna cum laude from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a concentration in Human Resource Management. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and came to EMSMC with several years of HR experience with Hyatt Hotels and Sara Lee Corporation. Katie oversees all human resources functions including organization development, benefits administration, employment & recruiting, and employee relations. Katie joined the company in 2005 and became a shareholder in 2007.

Leslie Hutchins, Operations Manager, has over 22 years of specialty medical billing experience including institutional pharmacy, psychiatric and hospice services. In addition, she has over 10 years of management experience in billing departments. Leslie currently oversees multiple areas of the company including A/R and follow-up, and customer service. She also manages key vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance. Leslie joined the company in 2002 and became a shareholder in 2007.

Kate Pruitt, Director of Georgia Operations, has over 15 years management experience, including finance, ambulance billing, and call center operations. Kate is responsible for all day-to-day operations at our West Point, GA facility and has been key to the success of EMS|MC's business in that region. She graduated from Troy State University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. Kate joined the company in 2005 and became a shareholder in 2009.

Kristie Little, Client Relations Manager, has over 10 years of experience with provider enrollment and client relations. She is responsible for the daily oversight of the department, in areas of training/education, deployment of new clients, enrollment, and maintaining existing client relationships and external partners. Kristie works with the deployment team to ensure a smooth enrollment process and for monitoring and analyzing all operational aspects of our existing client accounts to maximize the performance of the account.

Misty Link, Information Systems Manager graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College with an Applied Science degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Network Support. She has over 16 years of experience in network administration and support, internal software support, and help desk management.  Misty is also very knowledgeable in paperless field data collections and the billing file import and mapping process.  Furthermore, she works closely with finance on data mining projects using custom Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL and Access databases.  She holds the A+ and Net+ certifications from the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTia) and is a Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA).  Misty joined the company in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2007.
